Alison Spittle: Big: Edinburgh Fringe 2025: Monkey Barrel Comedy Club, Edinburgh, 2025

Irish comedian Alison Spittle performed for the Off The Kerb showcase at The Comedy Store in April 2018.  As Spittle meandered onto the stage, she was very sweet-natured in her delivery of a funny five-minute set which endeared her to the crowd.

Spittle was an inspired guest for Edinburgh Comedy All Stars at the Edinburgh Fringe in August 2022 and again for the Forge Comedy Club as part of the Brighton Fringe in May 2023.  Warm and enlightening on stage, her delivery was hilarious, very clever and energetic.

A Show for Gareth Richards was created for the 2023 Edinburgh Fringe by two comedians, Mark Simmons and Danny Ward.  Comedian Gareth Richards tragically died in a car crash in April 2023 and was widely known in the comedy community.  Clearly missed greatly by comedians and audiences, Simmons and Ward staged a comedy show with different daily comperes and acts every day of the Fringe which was free to attend but donations were requested at the end of each show for Richards’ family.  The show I went to featured Jo Jo Sutherland as compere, Susie McCabe, Alison Spittle and Stuart Goldsmith.  By the end of the Fringe, over £47,000 was raised for Richards’ family and Ward and Simmons won every award going for their superb efforts.  Spittle was pricelessly funny and fearless on stage with filthy material and a unique presence.

The comedian topped the bill for Sofa So Funny! in January 2025.  With an utterly unique and hilarious stage presence, she was a delight to watch.

I watched her show, Big at the Edinburgh Fringe in August 2025.  The premise for the show was that a man had told her to sit down, and she created an hour of wonderful stand-up based on the single idea.  As a result, she won the Comedians Choice Award at the festival.
