The Alternative Comedy Memorial Society: The Albany, Great Portland Street, London, 2020
I watched the bizarre John Luke-Roberts deliver a fifteen-minute set for the Best of The Fest showcase at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in August 2019. The surreal comedian with painted visual objects stuck to his face delivered absurd jokes and sketches involving witches to an unsuspected audience.
Roberts was the joint compere (along with Thom Tuck) at The Alternative Comedy Memorial Society that I saw in March 2020. The towering comedian tried to turn any situation that came to mind into comedy that the audience lapped up.
