I have seen Nish Kumar perform many times at Always Be Comedy.  Kumar is a comedian who has a collection of highly relevant stories that are well written, with plenty of cracking punchlines woven into the tales. On stage Kumar tackles the topics with a great deal of cleverness and skill.

Nish Kumar played Always Be Comedy in May, June and September 2018.  I have seen him many occasions at the club and every time he gets better and better.   The righteous comedian displayed loads of wit and charm onstage to keep the audience engrossed and laughing.  Kumar is a topical, well informed and hilarious who was slick and sharp with the crowd.

I saw Kumar headline at The Big Funny Festival at Richmond in June 2019.  His strong politically opinionated set was powered by outrage at what is wrong with the world.  His passionate delivery was garnished with witty and pithy turns of phrase made the audience crease with laughter.

Kumar appeared as a very welcome guest at the Always Be Comedy Christmas Show in December 2019 and as Brett Goldstein’s guest for his podcast Films To Be Buried With: End of The Decade Christmas Special at the National Film Theatre.  Kumar’s film knowledge for the podcast was impressive and at the comedy club, his ability to turn an unfortunate incident into a full-blown comic routine was inspired to watch.

In May 2020, Kumar was a guest for Always Be Comedy Online during the Coronavirus outbreak which affected the world and caused everyone to stay in their homes.  Kumar’s view of the government’s handling of the crisis and the ridiculousness of the situation was truly inspired.  The comedian was a guest act delivering a blistering set for the Greenwich Comedy outdoor socially distanced festival in September 2020 before appearing as a guest act again for Always Be Comedy online in November 2020, January 2021 and for special shows in aid of The Lily Foundation in February 2021 and Always Be Comedy Online: Suzi Ruffell All Stars for Young Roots. Kumar also appeared for the Always Be Comedy Online 1st Birthday Show in April 2021.  He returned to Always Be Comedy live in November 2021 where he delivered his hysterically funny extended set about an unfortunate bread roll incident that happened to him.

Kumar was a brilliant guest at a recording of The Last Leg live that I saw in January 2022 at Elstree Studios in London, and a deserved headliner for Always Be Comedy Online for Living Well Food Bank in July 2022, and for Always Be Comedy in Wandsworth in November 2022 and four shows at Kennington in March 2023, October 2023 and January 2024.

Not afraid to be honest and opinionated, the extremely funny and likeable commentator proves time and again that he is one of the country’s best comedians.
