Nathan Caton is an extremely laid-back comedian who delivers laughter with a string of well-built set pieces. At his best, he merges both revelatory and personal material with up-to-date social and political stories.
Both times that I have so far seen him live, he has produced well-prepared crowd-pleasing sets, with material often talking about his West Indian roots and what it is like living in Britain. Caton exudes confidence by having the most relaxed stand-up style delivered in a conversational way that endears the audience to him.
I saw Caton perform as the headline act at Always Be Comedy in London in March 2018 and again at the Off The Kerb showcase at The Comedy Store in April 2018. Both times, he ambled onto the stage and was instantly engaging with the audience. Caton was personable, likeable, and very quick-witted. His amusing story-telling skills were pin-sharp, and he kept the enthusiastic audiences captivated for the entire duration of his set.
I saw the comedian again appear at the London Comedy Allstars showcase at the Underbelly Festival on the Southbank in June 2019. He delivered an exceptionally funny ten-minute routine on his love of being a comedian and he thoroughly entertained the Saturday night audience.
Caton was a guest act on the second show of #SaveLiveComedy that I watched online live from the Clapham Grand in August 2020 as well as appearing twice for Always Be Comedy Online in September 2020 and February 2021. He was a guest act for Cracking Comedy in Aid of Women and Children First at the Leicester Square Theatre, London in May 2022 and topped the bill at Always Be Comedy in November 2022. The comedian’s sets were relevant, thought provoking and hilarious including a poem about living together with his other half in lockdown. He was self-assuring, a delight to watch and a very funny comedian.
