RICHARD BRIERS CBE

Play: Run For Your Wife: Shaftesbury Theatre, London, 1983
Play: Why Me? Strand Theatre, London, 1985

One of Britain’s most popular actors, Richard Briers, comedy star of the massively successful The Good Life and Ever Decreasing Circles on TV, starred in the Ray Cooney penned farce Run For Your Wife at the Shaftesbury Theatre that I saw in 1983. Briers was perfectly cast creating comedy out of the script and working well with co-stars Bernard Cribbins and Bill Pertwee.  I saw Briers again on stage in 1985 when he starred in Stanley Price’s comedy Why Me? Briers was a great consummate actor who was adept at playing characters struggling against the system either comedic or dramatic and he sadly passed away in 2013.
