Semi-Finalist of So You Think You’re Funny 2021, Leslie Gold was a superb compere for the Sofa SoFunny! comedy showcase that I watched in 2022 (in February, June, July, August, September and a Christmas show in December 2022) and 2023 (April, May, June and October and continuing). Smart, sassy, and very funny, she delivered comic stories involving the audience whilst introducing and encouraging the acts.
I watched Gold front Sofa SoFunny! So Fringe at the Brighton Fringe 2023. She was a very amiable host for comedians Nick Kirk and Dick Denham and performed a very funny routine on the difference between American and British life.
In March 2024, Gold was the wonderful MC for Women Are(n’t) Funny: A Comedy Night In Aid of Refuge at The Camden Beer Hall in London where she really entertained the audience proving to be a great compere.
In November 2023, the venue for Sofa SoFunny! changed to the wonderful room above the Angelic Pub in Islington North London. I also went in January, March, September, October 2024, two shows in January, March, June, July, September, October and November 2025 where Gold continued to hone her excellent MC skills.
In May 2025, I went to the Brighton Fringe and watched Gold’s new show, Tall Girl Energy. An extremely warm and funny show about a tiny girl living in a big world, this was at times inspirational and an extremely funny hour. I saw the show again for a preview to the Edinburgh Fringe at Aces and Eights pub in Kentish Town, London in June 2025 together on a bill with 101 Rules For A Better World (By Comedians), a new panel show hosted by Gold. Comedians describe rules to the audience who debate and decide whether the rules should go in the rule book or be discarded.
In July 2025, Gold was a guest for Crack Comedy in Wimbledon. Confident, funny and sassy, she delivered a wonderful 15 minutes from her solo show.
To spend time on my birthday watching a group of comedians and friends for the first show of 101 Rules For A Better World (By Comedians) hosted by Gold at the Edinburgh Fringe 2025 was a joy to watch. I even told a joke from the audience which miraculously got laugh before the crowd sang Happy Birthday to me.
