Happy Mondays Comedy: The Amersham Arms, New Cross, London, 2023 

I am so delighted and extremely pleased for my long-time friend from Carlisle, David James, who came to London in September 2023 and conquered the comedy circuits run by compere Sion James.  Having never performed stand-up comedy before and performing as Victor James (his middle name), I nervously watched from the crowd as he tentatively strolled to the microphone and started his set.  After whooping and cheering, I calmed down and slowly began to hear laughter from the crowd as my friend told stories amongst others, about his train journey from Carlisle to London and ending with a joke involving a toilet roll prop.  I was delighted that he had been offered a second night (at Happy Mondays Comedy) where he performed just as well, if not better.  With support from fellow comics on the bill and the crowd reaction afterwards being extremely positive; even if James never performs comedy again, my mate done well.
