JACK GLEADOW

Jack Gleadow: Master of Fun (Work in Progress): The Cookie, Leicester, 2020
The Best in Stand-Up: The Comedy Store, London, 2025

During my short time at the Leicester Comedy Festival in February 2020, Hull-based Jack Gleadow was an absolute highlight.  I had wanted to see him at the 2019 Edinburgh Fringe, but his show had sold out, so this was my chance to see the lovable comedian.   The work in progress hour for his new show included musical interludes, bizarre props and lots of audience participation – a kind of update to the nostalgic Saturday night TV variety show. Creating big idiotic laughs, Gleadow is an affable cheeky comedian from Hull with, as mentioned in his show, a genuine likeness to Barry Chuckle from The Chuckle Brothers.  His hour was indeed fun leaving me exhausted with laughter and making a definite point to see his full show.

It has been wonderful to get to know Gleadow, who was a fellow judge at the Hull Whats On Comedian of The Year as part of the Hull Comedy Festival that I attended both in 2023 and 2024.  When it was announced that he was to play the prestigious Comedy Store in London in January 2025, we went along to support, and it was great to see him being very silly on stage.
