I saw Louise Atkinson perform at Birdies Comedy, a free showcase mainly for new comedians in January 2018. Brought up in Hull, Atkinson had an extremely strong Northern personality on stage creating accurate comic characters and delivering funny lines in a no-holds barred funny routine.
I was delighted to see that she had made the Amused Moose National New Comic Final 2018 that I went along to at the Edinburgh Fringe in August 2018. She was gossipy and chatty on stage delivering funny detailed character-driven routines. I made a point of congratulating her reaching the final after the set.
It was joyous to see Atkinson perform a wonderful set at the Tickled Pink showcase in September 2022. With confidence through the roof, the laughter was constant as she delivered a set about being northern. No holds barred, brilliant build-ups to punchlines, great characters and wonderful payoffs all mixed into the fantastic routine.
Atkinson performed her solo show Mates at the Vault Festival in Waterloo, London in February 2023. A show based what it’s like to have friends, she was a delight to watch. With a superb and fearless stage presence, she happily chatted with the audience whilst delivering razor-sharp stories of relationships. I was delighted to see that she had come so far on her comic journey and wish her every success.
