NAZ OSMANOGLU

I saw English – Turkish comedian Naz Osmanoglu perform twenty-minute sets as well as being a guest on a music quiz on three separate occasions at the Edinburgh Fringe.  The comedy from this very live wire of a comedian lies around the theme of frankness and self-exposure.  While the material is centred around the crushing day-to-day realities of single life, his surreal, ranting tangents are also a pleasure to behold.  He is a self-proclaimed posh-boy and his on-stage persona diverts between growling, rather manic delivery and a sweaty, naive charm. He also belies the apparent sense of anarchy and turbulence with a shrewd structural awareness which makes him an extremely lively and very funny comedian.

Osmanoglu opening proceedings at Always Be Comedy when I went along in September 2018.  He was extremely confident, lively and fearless with an audience (if easily offended, do not sit in the front row!) doing everything in his power to make the crowd laugh.  He delivered two characters, a Spanish medallion man and a Swedish detective and was extremely enjoyable and entertaining.
