Dr Richard Vranch is an English actor, comedian and musician Since I have been going o the Edinburgh Fringe from 2005, he has always appeared on-stage as part of Paul Merton’s Impro Chums.

Together with Merton, Suki Webster, Lee Simpson and Mike McShane, Vranch is the one member who always supplies a relevant tune if need to fuel the improvisation and his range of characters and voices is exemplary.  In 2015, he took part in The Comedy Store Players’ 30th Birthday Shows which celebrated the long-running entertaining group of comedy inventors.

I saw Vranch again as one of the team of Paul Merton’s Impro Chums performing at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August 2018 and August 2019.  The improvisers play games based on different suggestions by the audience.  The Chums are Paul Merton, Suki Webster, Lee Simpson, Mike McShane and Vranch who is regularly called upon to provide music to add to the scene.  The show is always extremely funny and very popular with Fringe audiences.
