Anna Mann’s Manic Mondays: Always Be Comedy Online: Online: 2020
Character comedian Colin Hoult was a guest at the Angel Comedy showcase that I went along to in London in 2013. The strange world created by Hoult whilst he was on stage was unusual and diverting delivered with stacks of originality and strange ingenuity. His imagined world where stories were manipulated by real world incidents had a wonderful child-like quality which made him very endearing to the audience.
Hoult appeared as his alter ego Anna Mann at Always Be Comedy in March 2020 as well as the Next Up Comedy Festival in July 2020 then Always Be Comedy Online in August 2020 and for continuing Mondays throughout September to December 2020. The spoof character is an actress with an enormous amount of self-assurance flowing with enthusiasm and ego. Mann was hilarious at interacting with the audience giving people names that were constantly referred to in the set with high amusement and also bringing in characters such as bloke’s bloke Andy Parker. The stories of the character’s friends and theatrical exploits were hilarious too. Anna Mann’s Manic Mondays featured spoof plays with members of the front row audience playing different roles with increasing amounts of hilarity.
