Bremner, Bird and Fortune: Lyric Theatre, London, 2001
From the explosion of the satirical movement in the 1960s to collaborating with impressionist Rory Bremner forty years later, John Fortune was a giant in television comedy. He formed a successful partnership working with John Bird, who together delighted in making mockery of politicians, bankers, businessmen and the like. Their sketches were tightly written, accurate to the news of the day but were also heavily improvised. I saw them perform on stage when Bremner, Bird and Fortune became a live show at the Lyric Theatre in London in 2001. Fortune sadly passed away in 2013.
