Reginald D Hunter is an American stand-up comedian based in the United Kingdom. I have seen him many times perform at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. His solo shows are intelligent and well-crafted of which to date, I have seen three. In 2009, his show concentrated on the election of America’s first black President challenging the audience with contentious views with a mischievous sense of fun. His 2013 show contained some drawn-out thoughts on matters of race, sex and relationships, raising difficult questions mixed with lots of laughter fuelled life stories. In 2017 (performing from a wheelchair with a broken leg in a cast), he again spoke more about race, politics and society describing the subjects from his own humorous life experiences.
The comedian returned in March 2023 when I saw him at Headliners Comedy Club. Performing a superb twenty-minute set comparing differences in Britain with his native USA, he was hysterically funny with the really encouraging Friday night audience.
D Hunter is always good value and with his relaxed style and care free attitude to the debatable topics, he had no trouble interacting with the audience. He is an interesting, funny, and controversial comedian.
