JOHN THOMSON

Comedy Charity Night: Labatts Apollo, Manchester, 1991
The Fast Show / Shooting Stars Live: Hammersmith Apollo, London, 1998
Just The Tonic Working From Home – Good Riddance 2020 New Year’s Eve Special: Online: 2020

Cold Feet Comedy actor and comedian John Thomas appeared as alter ego working men’s club comedian and compere Bernard Righton at a Charity Comedy Night I saw in Manchester in 1991.

I also saw Thomson again for The Fast Show / Shooting Stars Live at the Hammersmith Apollo in London in 1998.   The Fast Show Live featured the original cast of the highly successful television sketch series, except Caroline Aherne, including Paul Whitehouse, Simon Day, Charlie Higson, Arabella Weir and Thomson with practically all of their myriad characters and catchphrases including Thomson’s Jazz Club host, Louis Balfour: Great!

Thomson is a great comic actor who the audience can recognise in themselves and can instantly relate to.  His characters are inspired creations and he has created very funny comedy situations over the years.

It was a delight to see Thomson reprise his superb Fast Show character Louis Balfour from Jazz Club for the Just The Tonic New Year’s Eve Special online that I saw in December 2020.  Sitting at home by a Christmas tree, the character was extremely funny tempting the viewer to what was coming next and he was wonderful to see.
