Dad’s Army Radio Show: Wilton’s Music Hall, London, 2024
Jack Lane appeared with David Benson in Dad’s Army Radio Hour that I saw at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2017. In celebration of fifty years and written by Jimmy Perry and David Croft, the two actors played twenty-five different characters in a brilliant staging of classic radio scripts based on favourite episodes from the original TV series – The British Buddy, The Day The Balloon Went Up and The Deadly Attachment. The impersonations from the two actors are inspired – Lane’s Captain Mainwaring is an inspiration, and the show is extremely well put together which results in a joyous, nostalgic hour.
The two wonderful comic actors returned for Dad’s Army Radio Show at Wilton’s Music Hall, London on tour in June 2024. The episodes The Love of Three Oranges, The Miser’s Hoard and The Making of Private Pike. The impersonations again were first-class including Benson’s Sergeant Wilson and Warden Hodges, and Lane’s Captain Mainwaring and Corporal Jones, particular favourites.
