SEAN LOCK

Baddiel and Newman Live and In Pieces: Apollo Theatre, Manchester, 1992
Sean Lock: Pleasance Courtyard, Edinburgh, 2007

I first saw great British comedian Sean Lock supporting David Baddiel and Robert Newman on their tour in Manchester in 1992.  I then watched Lock perform again at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2007.

Lock, who could pass for an office worker instead of stand-up comic, was a creative force able to take a candid comic opinion and then turn it on its head to make it funny.  His insights covered ordinariness to surreal however he always made sure the audience knew where he was coming from regardless of the ridiculousness of the situation.  The self-depreciation in his routines was inspired and he was an extremely funny man.

I was very sad to read of Lock’s death in August 2021 aged just 58 years old.
