Emo Phillips: Please Witness My Act: Pleasance Courtyard, Edinburgh, 2010
American comedian Emo Phillips played the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2010. I can remember watching the strange performer on British television in the eighties and therefore it was a joy to see him live on stage in the Pleasance Cabaret Bar. He did not disappoint with a trademark bizarre stage persona and speaking in an almost wistful child-like vocal tone. He weaved and created a dark and surreal routine comparing odd similarities between the US and the UK delivering successive joke after joke to an unsuspecting crowd who warmed to him. The unique comedian was extremely funny and delivered one of the best shows at the Fringe.
