Tim Clark is a very competent compere of comedy nights. I have seen him do this on three occasions. I have also seen his Fringe show Altogether Now in 2006 where on a wet Monday evening in August I ventured to my seat and sat with seven other punters. Clark was having fun with this small audience and when he came to me he asked me what would my ideal job be? I replied I would like to have Michael Parkinson’s job. He said what do I do for a real job? I said I work in the Civil Service. He said you’ll never be Michael Parkinson which got one of the biggest laughs of the night.
Having been a fan of Clark’s for years, it was wonderful to see him compering a Headliners Comedy show in Chiswick, London in February 2025. Sitting in the front row with friends, he had a field day with his trademark audience participation. I met him at the interview and back on stage for the second half, he said ‘it was great to meet Richard and here he is walking back with his friends – they look like an ageing boy band!’ Wonderful stuff.
