I saw comedian Carl Hutchinson kick off the weekly showcase at Always Be Comedy in January 2018.  Being the first on any bill is always tough but Hutchinson’s experience of ten years on the comedy circuit shone through and he had the confidence to deliver the set in an un-leisurely way.  He interacted with the audience with vitality and the comedy itself was well constructed as he generated big laughs.

Later in the year in June 2018, I watched Hutchinson support fellow comedian Chris Ramsey on his Just Happy To Get Out Of The House tour that I saw at Leicester Square Theatre in London. Again, with self-assurance, he easily warmed up the crowd. Hutchinson was very lively with entertaining stories and his drunk routine to end his twenty-minute set was great.

He supported Ramsey once again in March 2024 for a one-off recording Live in London at the Royal Court Theatre.  Extremely entertaining as ever, he thoroughly warmed the crowd up with a superb fifteen-minute set.
