LARRY DEAN

Andrew Ryan’s Pick of The Fringe: Laughing Horse @ Cabaret Voltaire, Edinburgh, 2017
The Best of The Comedy Store: Udderbelly Festival, Southbank, London, 2018
Best of the Fest: Assembly Hall, Edinburgh, 2018
Larry Dean: Work In Progress: Camden Comedy Club, London, 2021

I saw Larry Dean on the bill at Andrew Ryan’s Pick of The Fringe in Edinburgh in 2017.  To entertain a lunchtime crowd is always difficult, but the feel-good comedian did an inspired ten-minute set and succeeded in making the audience laugh out loud with inspired routines about every-day life.

Dean appeared at The Best of The Comedy Store for the Udderbelly Festival on the Southbank of London that I went along to in June 2018.  Dean’s material featured childhood obsessions, religion, and his sex life. He played with the anticipation of the crowd brilliantly and he was intimate with excellent wit, great punchlines and keen talent and skill.

I saw Dean again headlining the Best of the Fest at the Edinburgh Fringe in August 2018.  The affable Glaswegian delivered more excellent and funny well-crafted tales which even included an inspired dinosaur impression.  Dean is a real find and one-to-watch.

I watched the comedian performed new work-in-progress material for a new tour at the Camden Comedy Club as part of the Camden Fringe in August 2021.  Extremely confident on stage, he brilliantly intertwined audience interaction with side splitting routines on his relationship and life during lockdown.  He was wonderful to see live in a small venue.
