I first saw Australian comedian, Felicity Ward at the Tattershall Castle Boat Show Comedy where her whirlwind delivery of some very funny material encapsulated the audience. Her high-octane performance and blend of the ridiculous continued when I twice saw her play Always Be Comedy in 2016 and 2017. She tore the stage apart with her mad subjective wit determined and succeeding in making the audiences laugh very hard at her.
I watched Ward perform a twenty-minute set for The Comedy Store at the Udderbelly Festival on London’s Southbank in June 2018. She performed with such gusto that it was impossible for the audience not to be carried away with the very funny woman’s musings. A high point in her set was taking song requests from the audience and performing the song as a chicken! She was mercilessly funny running dashing around the stage providing a powerhouse of a performance.
I saw Ward again top the bill at Always Be Comedy in January 2019. Darting around the stage, her hyper obsessions and annoyances entertained the lively audience. Covering subjects discovering Yoga to talking about the nose on her face, the very likeable comedian delivered a very silly, ridiculous funny twenty-minute set.
Ward appeared to the Comedy Allstars showcase at the Underbelly Festival at London’s Southbank in June 2019. Once again, she performed with such gusto (even though she was pregnant) that it was impossible for the audience not to be carried away with the hilarious musings of this very funny woman.
Ward returned to Always Be Comedy in October 2020. This time, she was online and talking about the delights of being a mum. The recognition and laughter from her stories was very endearing even although she admitted she hadn’t done a gig in a while because of the Covid restrictions.
Ward deservedly headlined Always Be Comedy in November 2021 where she performed most of her set sat on the bar. I saw her again as a guest act for London Comedy Allstars in June 2022 at the Underbelly Festival in Cavendish Square, London. Displaying a wonderful charm with her comedy, the audiences loved her innocence and wit describing her life and career.
The comedian performed at Always Be Comedy’s new venue in Wandsworth, London in October 2022 and at the original venue in Kennington in November 2022. Extremely visual, running about the stage, standing on chairs and benches, the sets featured a wonderful routine about the foodstuff Quorn.
Ward is a great comedian, and she is a total joy to watch.
