Kirsty Newton is an extremely versatile pianist who has appeared in three shows that I have seen at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.  She is a member of comedian Arthur Smith’s backing singers The Smithereens who I have seen perform at four of Smith’s shows. The pianist provided the music for Arthur Smith’s show Syd in 2018 and created on the spot the music that accompanied the improvisation for the shows Whose Line Is It Anyway? Live at The Fringe and Paul Merton’s Impo Chums that I saw at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2019.  Newton was clearly enjoying herself at both shows and came up with some brilliant music.
