The Return of The Big Laugh-In: Labatts Apollo, Manchester, 1991
I’m Sorry I Haven’t A Clue Live! New Wimbledon Theatre, London, 2020
Stand Up for Jeremy Hardy: Hammersmith Apollo, London, 2022
Amazingly I have only seen Tony Hawkes live on stage twice in his long and established comedy career. In 1991, he was guesting at The Return of The Big Laugh-In showcasing the best of the current comedians where he delivered a mixture of songs and light-hearted repartee that made up a good-humoured set.
Some years later, Hawkes was a panel guest at I’m Sorry I Haven’t A Clue Live at the New Wimbledon Theatre, London that I saw in 2020. Hawkes was extremely good at creating very quick responses to ridiculous questions and was fearless when asked to do bizarre things like sing a famous pop song in the completely different style of another singer.
Hawkes appeared in the I’m Sorry I Haven’t A Clue section of Stand Up for Jeremy Hardy at the Hammersmith Apollo, London in January 2022. Taking prompt from host Jack Dee, Hawkes demonstrated his comic skills by playing various rounds of the popular Radio 4 show live as a tribute to his friend.
