Musical Comedy Awards: Heat 4: The Phoenix, Cavendish Square, London, 2020
Jay Foreman compered a Heat for the Musical Comedy Awards that I saw in London in February 2020. He was professional and very comfortable on stage. The quirky, madcap musical comedian had total control of the room as he introduced the competing acts.
Whilst the results were being counted, he delivered brilliantly written, pessimistic songs on subjects such as the contents of his grandma’s cupboards, his car with a special kind of petrol and the highlight where he lyrically remembered at break-neck speed all the London Underground stations which was extremely impressive and very funny. Forman was great to watch; I was amazed that I had never seen him before and made a point of catching his act again soon.
