John Robins is an extremely raw comic performer.  His openness to audience suggestions knows no bounds for improvisation.  He was extremely entertaining when I saw him perform at the Greenwich Comedy Festival in 2015 and again at Always Be Comedy in 2017.  I could see he had years of experience with treading the boards and yet the material was delivered with the enjoyment of someone new and exciting.

Robins appeared at Always Be Comedy in February, March, May and previewing his new show in June 2019.  Trying out new material and armed with notebook, he delivered sets of comic gold saying and reading anything that came to mind. Robins had extremely easy-going, relaxed stage presence that incorporates very clever stand-up comedy. He was very easy to listen to and draws the audience in what he is talking about.  What was great to see is how he intelligently describes a situation he has got himself into and describes how he tries to resolve the issue with hilarious results – a classic example from his preview show was a story involving a dehumidifier that he was forced to buy.

Robins appeared again in February 2020 at Always Be Comedy and then again at Always Be Comedy’s new venue at Samsbrook’s Brewery in Wandsworth in September 2022 and at The Tommyfield pub in Kennington in February 2023. He had an extraordinary ability to take a sentence and turn it into a brilliant twenty-minute routine and perform an amazing rant at things that comically annoy him.   Robins seems to get better every time I see him live and wish him every success.
