Marcel Lucont is a character created by comic actor Alexis Dubus. I have seen the act three times to date, twice at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2014 and 2017 and once at Always Be Comedy in London in 2017. Every time, Lucont stepped onto the stage, the carefreeness was there for all to see in the stride and stance; a swish of a hand flapping away the audience in disapproval and a wine glass resting on the palm of his hand like decoration. The character delivered a very well-structured show with a terrific range. His withering put-downs and self-deprecating songs had the audience in fits of laughter.
Lucont made a guest appearance for Always Be Comedy Online that I watched in August 2020. Like the glass of wine, he was drinking the French character comedian oozed class as he chatted with the audience and hilariously reminisced with me about the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
In November 2020, he headlined Collywobblers Comedy Lockdown and in January 2021 he appeared at The Return of The Craic Online Comedy Club where he read out brilliantly constructed comic poetry and songs whilst hilariously chatted with the audience.
