FRANKIE BOYLE

Frankie Boyle: The Voice of Black America: Pleasance Courtyard, Edinburgh, 2006
Best of The Fest: Assembly Rooms, Edinburgh, 2007
Always Be Comedy Online: Online: 2020
Frankie Boyle Live: Leicester Square Theatre, London, 2021

I saw Scottish comedian Frankie Boyle play the big theatre in the Pleasance Courtyard at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2006.  His show The Voice of Black America featured lots of jokes – an onslaught of brutal one-liners delivered with a commanding effective punch. He was politically aware, not because he wanted to get opinions across but simply, the more he knew about politics, the more targets there were for his rapid fire.

A year later in 2007, I saw the comedian as a guest act for the Best of the Fest showcase in Edinburgh where Boyle was once again unapologetically savage in attacking his targets with a tough Glaswegian defiance that proves refreshing amid topical comedy.

The comic appeared online for a series of monologue shows for Always Be Comedy Online between August and October 2020 and a Christmas edition in December 2020.  The comedy star was hilarious with his direct approach to all things troubling him and thoroughly entertained the audience with his hysteric and honest views for an hour or so per show.

Boyle returned to live stand up comedy with Frankie Boyle Live at The Leicester Square Theatre in August 2021.  With his trademark no-holds barred approach, he delivered forty-minutes of superb politic comedy in front of a very enthusiastic audience.
