I have seen Canadian comic Katherine Ryan on several occasions over the last few years.  Most notably, I watched her one-woman show Glam Role Model at the Bloomsbury Theatre, London in 2015.  Tackling celebrity scandals, Ryan’s on-stage style was similar to Joan Rivers which is dangerously fierce and obsessed with pop-culture.

In 2017, she made regular work in progress appearances at Always Be Comedy in London where I watched through tears of laughter her way of easily relating to her audience by beginning a story with sweet innocence and ending it with an angry final rant.

Ryan returned to Always Be Comedy in October 2020 after a period away from stand-up comedy.  She was bright and cheerful on stage as she delivered an acerbic and witty set about being married and being a mother.  She was a delight to watch and her stories were easily relatable and extremely funny.  I had never seen her before at Always Be Comedy and could see how well she was loved.

Ryan has become extremely popular and well as hysterically funny to UK audiences through appearing on TV comedy panel shows and through live touring.
