The Goodies Still Rule OK! Assembly Rooms, Edinburgh, 2006
I’m Sorry I Haven’t A Clue Live: Royal Festival Hall, London, 2010
In 2006, two of the legendary Goodies (Tim Brooke-Taylor and Graeme Garden) reunited on stage at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival to reminisce about the glory days of the 1970’s television series. The third member of the group Bill Oddie appeared via pre-recorded video on a giant screen. The ninety minutes on stage involved the two comedian answering questions such as ‘how did you get started?’ and ‘how did you meet?’ with warm friendly banter. It was a joyful afternoon with a mixture of loyal fans and new acquaintances in the audience enjoying the moment when Garden and Brooke-Taylor entered the stage in the famous tandem but with added Zimmer frame to the self-depreciating repartee between the two. Brooke-Taylor’s innocence and accident-prone tendencies made famous in the series contrasted well with esteemed ex-Doctor Garden’s crudeness which he regularly displays on the long running radio panel game I’m Sorry I Haven’t a Clue.
I saw I’m Sorry I haven’t A Clue Live in London in 2010. The long-running radio game show transferred well to the stage with chairman Rob Brydon alongside Garden, Brooke-Taylor, Barry Cryer and Jeremy Hardy on the panel setting bizarre, embarrassing challenges ad playing classic games such as the baffling and enormously silly Mornington Crescent. The packed audience appreciated the razor-sharp wit, experience and sheer entertainment of the comedy stars.
