A Show for Gareth Richards: Edinburgh Fringe 2023, PBH Free Fringe @ Whistlebinkies, Edinburgh, 2023

Stuart Goldsmith is a very reliable and entertaining comedian who I have seen many times mostly performing guest spots and making appearances at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.   I saw his full show Another Lovely Crisis in 2011 where his compelling and enthusiastic set focussed on being excellent in a crisis.  His up-beat delivery was very confident making the audience with ease talking about dramatic subject with injections of humour whether it was reassuring up a upset child, genuinely saving another human’s actual life or helping to avert a riot.

A Show for Gareth Richards was created for the 2023 Edinburgh Fringe by two comedians, Mark Simmons and Danny Ward.  Comedian Gareth Richards tragically died in a car crash in February 2023 and was widely known in the comedy community.  Clearly missed greatly by comedians and audiences, Simmons and Ward staged a comedy show with different daily comperes and acts every day of the Fringe which was free to attend but donations were requested at the end of each show for Richards’ family.  The show I went to featured Jo Jo Sutherland as compere, Susie McCabe, Alison Spittle and Stuart Goldsmith.  By the end of the Fringe, over £47,000 was raised for Richards’ family and Ward and Simmons won every award going for their superb efforts.  For those seeking to donate, please click  Goldsmith was a brilliant headliner whose comedy experience really entertained the audience.
