John Kearns was on the bill as a guest act at Harry Hill and Friends at the Union Chapel in 2015.  I have also seen him appear twice at Always Be Comedy in London in 2017, and for Outside The Box Comedy Club in Kingston in October 2024.

Kearns is clearly a talented performer but what he does on stage is hard to explain.  It is very bizarre comedy and there are very few jokes and yet it is fearless, unique and very funny.  Kearn’s slurry, sharp voice, comedy teeth and loud style made it sometimes difficult to hear what he was saying but inspired stories including tales about a massage, a supermarket checkout, a betting shop and a horse race were brilliantly delivered from an inspired act.

When he appeared for Outside The Box in October 2024, he was practising for a guest spot on BBC’s Live At The Apollo and was exceptionally funny and depreciating style on stage.   I saw him again in March 2025, headlining Bella Hull and Friends where he was hysterically funny chatting with the audience.
