I saw Londoner Jimmy McGhie feature as a guest on BBC Stand Up Show Live at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2009. As a stand-up comedian, he proved a skilful storyteller, using the story of a Scottish night on the town as a outline on which to base stories of his relationships and opinionated observations. He is brilliant to listen to, building up stories and knocking out punchlines with ease.
I watched McGhie headline the London Comedy Allstars at the Underbelly Festival, London in June 2022. Effortlessly charming, confident and at ease on stage, his stories, and jokes about living arrangements were well structured and his ten-minute set was extremely funny.
