The Glastonbury Festival Experience: The Old Nun’s pub, Peckham, London, 2014
On a comedy bill that I saw in 2014, I was witness to something special. Tina Turner, the world class infamous singer had retired from showbusiness and now had a job as a tea lady. That’s the premise for Tracey Collins act, the actress who created the character.
Donned with familiar wig and raspy voice the chanteuse wearing a piny delivered an energetic concert of her greatest hits, but with lyrics changed to reflect her new career. To see her singing Simply the Best looking into a cup of tea was worth the ticket price alone. The act was unique, brilliant and had me crying with laughter.
