DANNY ROGERS

Play: Bin and Gone: Sweet Dukebox @ The Southern Belle, Brighton 2018

Ted Rogers was a comedian who in the 1970s and 1980s became a household name as the presenter of Saturday night TV quiz show 321 which featured Dusty Bin – a mechanical, moving dustbin that was the symbol of the show and what could be least won in the quiz.

At the 2018 Brighton Fringe, I saw a play about Rogers’ life and career which was performed by his son Danny.  The play showed that there was much more to Rogers’ career and was an insight into British show-business of the era.  On stage Rogers’s son proved to be as versatile as his dad and the performance was a personal and fitting tribute to the fondly remembered entertainer.
