Alistair Barrie appeared in the play Coalition at the Edinburgh Fringe when I attended in 2016. The play was a satire charting the possible final days of Britain’s Coalition Government and featured other comedy luminaries such as Phil Jupitus, Jo Caulfield and Simon Evans acting in roles.
I also saw Barrie perform a stand-up comedy guest spot at Headliners Comedy Club in London in 2016. Barrie was a talented, sophisticated comic with expertly timed and brilliantly constructed material which greatly entertained the crowd.
The comedian also played Always Be Comedy in March 2019. The elegant, accomplished and very experienced comic was on stage for twenty-minute lambasting the current state of British politics and his moving to the country from the city. His observations were brilliantly funny and he was a big hit with the audience.
The comic was a guest for Always Be Comedy online in April 2021 and for a live show in November 2021. He was a very confident and self-assured performer producing enormous amounts of laughter from everyday situations and his experiences in lockdown.
He was a deserved headliner for Downstairs at The Kings Head that I watched in April 2023. Talking about everything from family life to politics, his delivery of a joke and story was brilliant, and he made the audience consistently belly laugh.
Barrie is a class act who is highly recommended.
