Always Be Comedy: The Tommyfield pub, Kennington, London, 2019
Danny Bhoy’s biggest fan, it would seem, is an 82-year-old lady called Ann. She sat next to me and as the Scottish comedy star (who I have seen frequently play to sell-out crowds at his native Edinburgh Festival Fringe) appeared on stage at Always Be Comedy in October 2019, he acknowledged the fact. Ann had previously stolen the show by standing on stage and revealing her age and everyone in the audience who were amazed. T the end of Bhoy’s set, she gave him a little bag of goodies and received a hug.
Bhoy was his usual confident and unflinching self, delighted that Ann was sitting in the front row. His headline set consisted of newly-written new jokes, stories and material for a forthcoming Canadian tour and judging by the adulation the audience gave him, the funny man is sure to have continued success.
