Australian act Steen Raskopoulos played Always Be Comedy in February and October 2018. As I watched from the front row, the finely tuned set spread out into a number of sketches which involved a lot of audience participation. The act worked because the audience was lively and was happy enough to volunteer to take part and he proved to a hit both times at Always Be Comedy.
I saw Raskopoulos appear as a guest for the Birthday Girls Late-Night Comedy Party at the Edinburgh Fringe in August 2018. Again, he proved to be a brilliant improvised comedian using all the space in the room wading through the audience, so everyone could see his amazing sketch comedy.
In January 2019, Raskopoulos was a guest again at Always Be Comedy trying out new material. The sketches were short, sharp and clever and he took command of the stage and the crowd again in an entertaining twenty-minute set.
Raskopoulos was a guest with Sara Pascoe for Always Be Comedy Online in April 2020. The audience was watching from home due to the Coronavirus worldwide outbreak and the front row gave suggestions to the comedians who improvised scenes. The routine worked extremely well and they were a pleasure to watch.
The comedian was the headline act for Luke Kempner and Friends that I watched at 2Northdown in London in October 2021. He performed everything from rap songs and audience banter to a brilliantly funny sketch about a character supposedly losing his keys.
Raskopoulos is an extremely talented comedian and well worth seeing.
