Broadcast live from his shed, Scott Bennett featured in the online show Komeida Live that I watched in May 2020. He was lively and had a brilliant delivery of stories on how he was coping during the lockdown that everyone had to adhere to in 2020 due to a worldwide epidemic.
Bennett headlined for Always Be Comedy Online in July and November 2020 as well as appearing as a guest again in January 2021. Becoming a regular favourite with the online crowd, his confidence and gag rate were amazing to see as he talked about the pressures of family life during isolation, family life, home schooling his children and being from Yorkshire. He was a rapid joke machine not stopping until the audience were crying with laughter.
Bennett performed a full show for Always Be Comedy Online in April 2021. The set and routines were crammed with so many jokes that I was left uncontrollably laughing. He performed over ninety minutes of quality material and Bennett was very impressive.
I first saw Peter Kay in a small club in Manchester before he was famous. He was on a bill of five acts, and I laughed so hard at him I missed the fifth act. Watching Scott Bennett finally perform live at Always Be Comedy in August and September 2021 reminded me of that night. Bennett is that good. He performed two hours of quality material with brilliant crowd work, fantastic routines and above all very, very, funny.
The comedian returned to Always Be Comedy online in December 2021. Even with a bad internet connection, he proved again what a great comedian he is with great joke after great joke until the audience could take no more because of laughing so hard. By far and away, he is the comic find of 2021 (even if he has been going a few years before).
In March 2022, Bennett performed a preview of his new Great Scott tour for Always Be Comedy live on stage. He played for nearly two hours, and I was aching with laughter. I’m looking forward very much to seeing the final product on tour later in the year.
Bennett was a guest act for the Ealing Comedy Festival in July 2022. It was wonderful to see him take command of the room and really make the audience laugh with exceptionally clever stories, jokes and one-liners.
Bennett was an inspired guest for Vix Leyton’s Comedy Arcade at the Edinburgh Fringe in August 2022 where he delivered rapid-fire hilarious stories to the questions asked by the compere. The comedian also performed a superb ten-minutes of material promoting his solo show Nine Lives for Mervyn Stutter’s Pick of The Fringe.
It was wonderful to watch Bennett perform his full solo show, Great Scott! At the Leicester Comedy Festival in February 2023. Based around everyday family life, the joke rate was exceptionally high and the audience were in consistent hysterical laughter.
Remember the name, Bennett deserves every success and is very highly recommended.
