Bernard Cribbins is one of the most versatile comic actors Britain has ever produced. He is instantly recognisable as one of the continuous storytellers on children’s television show Jackanory, where his endearing and soothing voice was loved by millions of children in the 1970s. From drama to comedy, Cribbins has done it all in a long and illustrious career. I was fortunate enough to see Cribbins star in the long running theatre farce Run For Your Wife in London in 1984.
