I first saw Tim Key in a play called Party at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2009.  The play was a political satire about wanting to change the world but having no idea how and little idea why. Tom Basden (who wrote the script), Anna Crilly, Jonny Sweet and Katy Wix all appeared with Key in the play which won critical acclaim.

Key’s solo act is bizarre and funny.  Stand-up comedy, elongated stories and dark humorous poetry make up the routine.  The more time Key is on stage the more obvious it becomes that he is a sarcastic player who enjoys manipulating the audience’s emotions for his own delight although he is always in control of the weird and amusing situation.

In March 2024, Key made his debut at Always Be Comedy.  Sitting in the front row, throughout his surreal act, he handed me his drink for me to hold whilst he performed.  At regular intervals, he took a drink and then handed it back to me which kept getting laughs.  His new material worked wonders to a very enthusiastic audience.
