I have seen Irish comedian Ardal O’Hanlon on three occasions and every time he was bright, engaging and funny on stage. O’Hanlon was instantly recognisable with the familiar voice and innocent face. Covering topics about his life and career and nostalgic tales about growing up in rural Ireland, his comedy is bittersweet, harmless and extremely funny.
Star of Father Ted, My Hero and Death In Paradise on television, Irish comedian O’Hanlon made his Always Be Comedy Online debut and also appeared for Return of The Craic Online Comedy Club both of which I saw in February 2021. Sitting in a chair looking relaxed, his whimsical view of the world and his bewildered expressions where hilarious to watch as he talked about life in lockdown, his family and pet dog.
O’Hanlon appeared again for Always Be Comedy Online in April 2021 treating the audience to a thirty- minute routine – ten minutes of which was padding for the delayed Mark Watson (as he was receiving his Coronavirus jab) and O’Hanlon was hysterically funny throughout the set. The comedian also delivered a one- hour work in progress show for Always Be Comedy Online in June 2021 which was expertly delivered and made the online audience consistently laugh.
