MARK LAMARR

The Best of The Comedy Store: The Comedy Store, London, 1996
Shooting Stars (BBC TV Recording): BBC TV Centre, London, 1997
Never Mind The Buzzcocks (TV Recording): BBC TV Centre, London, 1999
The Fast Show / Shooting Stars Live: Hammersmith Apollo, London, 1998

I first saw bespectacled quiff haired stand-up comedian Mark Lamarr on a bill at The Comedy Store in 1996.  He was self-assured, cocky, arrogant and angry delivering his views on the state of Britain.

Lamarr then appeared a lot on television as a team captain on Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer’s successful comedy quiz Shooting Stars from 1995 to 1997.  Lamarr’s persona was to never quite get or be the butt of the joke but he would famously corpse many times at Reeves and Mortimer’s wild antics.  Lamarr then went onto host the successful music- based comedy quiz Never Mind The Buzzcocks for ten years from 1996 to 2005.  I watched TV recordings of both Shooting Stars and Buzzcocks and also saw Shooting Stars live on stage in 1998.
