Boasting a proud West Country accent, I have seen Charlie Baker perform once at The Comedy Store showcase at the Udderbelly Southbank, London in 2016 and three times at Always Be Comedy in Balham and Kennington, London in 2016 and 2017.
Baker’s act is big, brash and oozes the confidence of an established entertainer. His act is made up of musical re-imaginings and standards of best-selling hit songs which he sings well together with stand-up comedy. The comic stories involve life as a husband, comfort eater and besotted father of a son. The stories work well in between the songs.
Baker’s all-singing, all-dancing act with chunks of stand-up comedy drives the crowd to experience a very entertaining act.
Baker closed the first half of The Off The Kerb showcase that I saw at The Comedy Store in April 2018. Baker delivered his ten-minute routine very dynamically with joviality and gusto lively charging up the crowd.
Baker headlined Always Be Comedy in March 2020 and appeared in an Always Be Comedy Online show in April 2020 when everybody had to stay at home due to a worldwide pandemic. The naturally funny man delivered new material about his comedy roots with immaculately timed jokes and stories to entertain the audience.
The comedian delivered a wonderful twenty-minute set showcasing his comic talent for the London Comedy Allstars at the Udderbelly, Cavendish Square, London in May 2022. The crowd absolutely loved his comic timing, singing and engaging presence.
